Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA), with its headquarters in Alkaleri Town, is part of the Bauchi South Senatorial District. Established in 1976, it covers an area of approximately 7,115 square kilometres and had a population of about 328,284 (2006 census) and is projected to be 586,200 in 2022. The population density is around 56 people per square kilometre.
Alkaleri’s economy is based on agriculture and livestock farming, with crops like maize, millet, and guinea corn playing central roles. The LGA is also known for its solid mineral deposits, including limestone and coal.
