Dunukofia  local government area in Anambra state, Southeast geopolitical division of Nigeria has its headquarters in the town of Ukpo with other towns and villages including Ifitedunu, Umudioka, Nawgu, Ukwulu, Umunnachi, and Dunukofia itself. The total area of Dunukofia is approximately 75.22 km². The population of the LGA is estimated at 137,500 as of 2022 and was 96,517 in 2006. It is one of the LGAs within the Anambra Central senatorial zone. Dunukofia has an agrarian economy, with farming as the primary occupation of its residents. The area is known for the cultivation of crops such as yam, rice, cassava, and maize.The region has a rich cultural heritage, hosting festivals like the Mkpukpa festival in Umudioka. Dunukofia is also home to several educational institutions, including St. Mary’s High School in Ifitedunu, one of the oldest post-primary schools in Anambra.
