Zurmi Local Government Area is located in Zamfara North Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Zurmi. Zurmi LGA hosts the Zurmi Emirate and has a number of towns and villages such as Gurbin Bore, Kwashabawa, Birane, Mayasa, Tungar Fulani, Mashema, and Tubali. It spans an area of 2,512km² and had a population of 293,977 according to the 2006 census. Projections for 2022 estimate a population of 523,000, with a density of 208.2 people per km².
