Gummi Local Government Area is situated in Zamfara West Senatorial District with its headquarters in the town of Gummi. Towns and villages that make up Gummi LGA include Birnin Tudu, Gummi, Albarkawa, Yardiga, Yartsayasu, and Lemawa . It has a landmass of 2,610 km² and is located at coordinates 12°08′30″N, 5°07′30″E. The LGA had a population of 206,721 in 2006, projected to reach 367,800 by 2022, with a density of 125.0 people per km². Gummi’s economy is primarily agrarian, with residents mainly engaged in farming crops such as millet, maize, sorghum, and groundnuts, alongside livestock farming involving cattle, goats, and sheep.
