Bukkuyum Local Government Area, located in Zamfara West Senatorial District with headquarters in Bukkuyum town, has a landmass of 3,752 km²  . Bukkuyum  LGA is bordered by the Anka and Gunmi LGAs and is made up of several towns such as Dogon Dajin, Yar’galma, Baruba, and Gurusu. Bukkuyum LGA is home to the Bukkuyum Emirate which is overseen by the Emir of Bukkuyum .  It recorded a population of 216,348 in 2006, projected to reach 384,900 by 2022 with a density of 102.6 people per km². The local economy is primarily agricultural, with significant cultivation of cotton and millet, alongside abundant mineral resources such as lead and gold, which support a growing mining industry.
