Yabo L.G.A Of SOKOTO State

Yabo Local Government Area is located in Sokoto South Senatorial District, with its headquarters situated in the town of Yabo. It is one of the oldest local governments in Sokoto[1] and is made up of several towns and villages, including Budurega, Kibiyare, Binji, Bingaje, Dono, Fakka, Muza, Torankawa, and Ruggar[2]. Yabo LGA covers an area of 831.5 km² and had a population of 115,302 at the 2006 census, projected to rise to 199,000 in 2022, with a density of 239.3 people per km² [3]. Farming is a major part of the local economy, with crops such as rice, millet, and groundnuts being widely cultivated. Trade also thrives in Yabo, with several markets offering a wide range of goods and services. In addition to farming and trade, the residents of Yabo LGA engage in animal rearing and hunting[4].
