Wurno L.G.A Of SOKOTO State

Wurno Local Government Area is situated in Sokoto North Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Wurno, located near the Gagere River[1]. The LGA comprises several towns and villages, including Wurno, Achida, Sisawa, Marnowa, Magargaba, Chacho, Marafa, Gyalgyel, and Dinawa[2]. Wurno LGA spans an area of 665.7 km² and had a population of 162,403 at the 2006 census, projected to reach 280,300 in 2022, giving a population density of 421.0 people per km² [3]. Farming is a key occupation in the area, with residents cultivating a variety of crops, including rice, sorghum, and onions. The rearing and sales of domestic animals such as cows, goats, horses, and camels are also prominent.
