Goronyo Local Government Area is located in Sokoto East Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Goronyo on the Sokoto River[1]. The LGA includes various towns and villages such as Takakume, Yarimawa, Giyawa, Boyakai, Birjingo, Danasakko, Goronyo, and Shinaka[2]. Spanning an area of 2,013 km², Goronyo had a population of 182,118 according to the 2006 census, with a projection of 314,300 by 2022, giving it a population density of 156.2 people per km² [3]. The inhabitants of Goronyo are primarily of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups, with Hausa and Fufulde as the main languages.
