Oyo West Local Government Area (LGA), with headquarters in the town of Ojongbodu, is located in Oyo Central Senatorial District, Oyo State, Nigeria. Oyo West is bounded on the longitude and latitude of 7°56'29.65" N 3°49'18.48" E. . It was created on 5th December 1996 and covers an area of 505 km². The LGA has a population of 136,236 according to the 2006 census, with a projected population of 195,000 in 2022 . The population density is 386.2 people per square kilometer. Agriculture is the main economic activity in Oyo West.
