Udung Uko L.G.A Of AKWA IBOM State

Udung Uko Local Government Area, located in Akwa Ibom South senatorial district, has its headquarters in Eyofin . It was established in December 1996 after being carved out of Oron LGA. Covering an area of 68.76 km², the LGA had a 2022 projected population of 67,700, up from 53,060 in the 2006 census, resulting in a population density of 984.5 people per km². Udung Uko is endowed with crude oil and salt, hosting various crude oil mining firms. Fishing is central to its economy, with abundant seafood sourced from its rivers and streams. Other significant activities include farming, canoe-making, and wood carving. The area is notable for its beach market at Esuk Usung, where fishermen from Ilaje, Cameroon, Ghana, and local residents sell their catch.
