Ibarapa L.G.A Of OYO State

Ibarapa Central Local Government Area (LGA), with headquarters in the town of Igbo-Ora , is a significant local government within Oyo State, Nigeria. It was created on December 4, 1996, by General Sanni Abacha. Ibarapa Central covers an area of 440 square kilometers with a population of 102,979 (2006 census)  and is projected to have a population of 147,600 in 2022, resulting in a population density of 337.5 people per square kilometer .

The LGA’s economy thrives on agriculture, with fertile farmlands contributing significantly to its agricultural output. Trade and artisanal craftsmanship also play an important role in the local economy. Ibarapa Central is famously known as the food basket of Oyo State due to its fertile farmlands, which support the cultivation of various crops. Ibadan South West has the coordinates of 7°21'2.48" N 3°51'55.84" E.
