Oruk Anam, located in Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district, is one of the largest Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State, spanning 543.9 km². Its headquarters are in Ikot Ibritam. It was formed in 1989 through the merger of the Oruk zone (formerly Southern Annang County Council) and Anam zone (formerly Anam County Council). The 2022 projected population of Oruk Anam is 219,300, rising from 171,839 recorded in the 2006 census, with a population density of 403.2 people per km². Economic activities in Oruk Anam are diverse, including fishing, trade, and farming. The rivers and streams provide abundant seafood, while crops such as plantain, coconut, and vegetables are cultivated.
