Afijio L.G.A Of OYO State

Afijio Local Government Area (LGA), headquartered in Jobele , is a prominent local government within the Oyo Central Senatorial District  in Oyo State, Nigeria.  With a geo-coordinates of  7°43′27.5″N 3°51′55.8″E. It was created in May 1989 and spans an area of 722 square kilometers. With a population of 152,193 (2010 estimated) and 134,173 (2006 census), it is projected to have a population of 188,900 in 2022 , giving it a population density of 206.1 people per square kilometer. Afijio’s economy is largely driven by agriculture , and it is known for its production of various crops. Notable personalities from Afijio include Gabriel Mojisola Babatunde, the first Nigerian professor of animal science, and Professor E. Latunde Odeku, Nigeria's first neurosurgeon.
