Okobo LGA, Akwa Ibom State

Okobo Local Government Area (LGA), part of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, was established in 1989 after being carved out of Oron LGA. Its headquarters is located in Okopedi. Spanning an area of approximately 303.5 square kilometers, Okobo had a population of 102,753 in 2006, with projections reaching 131,100 by 2022, resulting in a population density of around 432 people per square kilometers. The LGA's economy is heavily influenced by trade, with markets like the Atabong Beach market serving as hubs for commerce.
