Akure North, with its headquarters in Iju/Itaogbolu,[1] Is an integral part of the Ondo Central Senatorial District. Created in 1976, the LGA spans an area of 638.8 square kilometers. It had a population of 131,587 in 2006[2], which has been projected to grow to 200,900 by 2022, resulting in a population density of 314.5 people per square kilometer[3].
