Nsit Ubium Local Government Area (LGA), located in Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, was created on May 3, 1989, from the former Etinan LGA. Its administrative headquarters is in Ikot Edibon . Covering a land area of about 205.2 square kilometers, the LGA had a population of 127,083 in 2006, with projections reaching 162,200 by 2022, resulting in a population density of approximately 790.3 people per square kilometers. While agriculture is a notable activity in Nsit Ubium, the LGA is particularly known for its natural resources, including clay and silica sand, which support local enterprises. Crops such as cassava, maize, and oil palm are grown, alongside livestock farming. However, the area's economic activities are diverse, incorporating trade, small-scale industries, and services. It is situated at coordinates 4°46′0″N and 7°56′0″E .
