Kosofe Local Government Area (LGA) is located in the Lagos East Senatorial District, with its administrative headquarters situated in the town of Kosofe[1]. Covering an area of 59.99 square kilometres, Kosofe had a population of 682,772 in 2006, which was projected to rise to 1,010,800 by 2022. This results in a high population density of 16,849 people per square kilometre[2]. Its geographic coordinates are approximately 6°34′N latitude and 3°22′E longitude.

Kosofe's economy is largely driven by trade, with notable markets such as the Binukonu Market and the Ojota Market serving as key hubs for commercial activities[3].
