Pategi local government area was created from Edu Local Government Area with its headquarters in Pategi. The major towns are Pategi, Lade, Kpada, Koro, Kusogi, Rogun, and Ariji. With an area of 2,988 km², it had a population of 110,852 as of the 2006 census, and was projected to reach 166,400 in 2022 with a density of 55.68/km². It is inhabited by the Nupe people who also exhibit a linguistic repertoire of the Yoruba dialect who are majorly farmers- harvesting cassava, millet, rice, guinea corn, melon. The LGA is also a hub for economic enterprises such as fishing, animal rearing, and food processing. Mineral resources such as Granite, Clay, Columbite, Gold, Quartz, Iron, Ore, and Silica also occur in large quantities in Patigi LGA. The major festivals are the Pategi Regatta festival, and the Ndakogbaya Masquerade. Tourist attractions include the Etsu Nupe palace, Duku Irrigation Scheme, and Gwasun at Egwa Mama.
