Osin Local Government Area (LGA) was created in 1996 from the old Irepodun Local Government Area, with its headquarters located in Owu-Isin in Kwara South senatorial district[1]. The LGA includes several towns and communities such as Isanlu Isin , Iwo, Oke-Onigbin, Edidi, Iji, Alla, Oponda, Eleyin, and Ijara Isin[2]. Geographically, Isin LGA is bordered to the north by Igbajaland, Oraland, and Ireland, to the west by Ajasse Ipo and Oro, to the east by Oro-Ago, Olla, and Osi (in Ekiti LGA), and to the south by Apaland, Arandun, and Omu-Aran[3]. It covers an area of 631.2 km², with a population of 59,481 as of the 2006 census, projected to rise to 89,300 in 2022 with a density of 141.5/km² [4]. Farming is a primary economic activity, with a diverse range of crops grown throughout the area. The trade sector is also strong, supported by several local markets where various goods are exchanged. Cattle rearing, particularly by Fulani nomads, is another key aspect of the local economy[5]. Isin is also rich in mineral deposits, including Granite, Clay, Kaolin, Talc, Quartzite, Tomalin, Mica, Tantalite, Precious Stones, Feldspar, and Marble.
