Ifelodun L.G.A Of KWARA State

Ifelodun Local Government Area (LGA), established in 1976 from the defunct Igbomina Ekiti LGA, is part of Kwara South Senatorial District. Its administrative headquarters is in the town of Share[1]. The LGA comprises at least 80 towns and villages, including Igbaja, Oke-Ode, Agunjin, Ile-Ire, Ora, Oro-Ago, Omupo, Share, Idofihan, Ganmo, Babanloma, Alabe, Owode-Ofaro, Elerinjare, and Idera[2]. It spans a land area of 3,405 km² and had a population of 204,975 in 2006, projected to reach 307,700 by 2022, resulting in a density of 90.38/km² [3]. Agriculture thrives in the area, with crops like maize, millet, guinea corn, sorghum, and palm oil produced. The LGA is also rich in mineral resources, including granite, limestone, marble, dolomite, quartz, and kaolin. Cultural life is vibrant, with festivals such as Egungun, Epa, Sango, and Alagbe dances celebrated widely.
