Ogori/Magongo L.G.A Of KOGI State

Ogori-magongo local government area was created from the old Okene LGA for the Ogori and Magongo people, with its headquarters at Akpafa, situated in Kogi Central Senatorial District[1]. Prominent towns include Afuku, Ogbekete, Ugugu, Opakeru, Ileteju, Efan, Akonoboro, and Eku[2]. Spanning an area of 79.21 km², Ogori-magongo LGA had a population of 39,807 in 2006, projected to rise to 53,700 by 2022, with a population density of 677.9/km² [3]. The LGA mostly inhabited by members of the Osayen and Oko ethnic affiliations. The Osayen and Oko dialects are commonly spoken in Ogori magongo. Popular festivals held in Ogori magongo LGA include the Owiya Osese and the Ovia Osese festivals while the prominent traditional rulers in the LGA include the Magongo of Magongo and the Ologori of Ogori.
