Ogori-magongo local government area was created from the old Okene LGA for the Ogori and Magongo people, with its headquarters at Akpafa, situated in Kogi Central Senatorial District[1]. Prominent towns include Afuku, Ogbekete, Ugugu, Opakeru, Ileteju, Efan, Akonoboro, and Eku[2]. Spanning an area of 79.21 km², Ogori-magongo LGA had a population of 39,807 in 2006, projected to rise to 53,700 by 2022, with a population density of 677.9/km² [3]. The LGA mostly inhabited by members of the Osayen and Oko ethnic affiliations. The Osayen and Oko dialects are commonly spoken in Ogori magongo.
