Ofu L.G.A Of KOGI State

Ofu local government area, has its headquarters in the town of Ogwolawo, located within Kogi East Senatorial District. It comprises several towns and villages, including Ajoda, Ogwolawo, Walawo, Ogwa, Itobe, Utagidi, Okotete, and Olofu[1]. With a landmass of 1,680 km², Ofu LGA had a population of 191,480 in the 2006 census, projected to increase to 258,100 in 2022, resulting in a density of 153.6/km² [2]. The northeasterly line of equal latitude and longitude passes through the LGA[3]. Ofu LGA has a rich agricultural heritage and is known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as rice, yam, and maize. A number of colourful festivals are celebrated in Ofu LGA and this include the popular Italo festival [4].The postal code of Ofu LGA is 271 with its coordinates at 7°20′N 7°05′E [5].
