Ijumu Local Government Area lies in Kogi West Senatorial District with its headquarters in the town of Iyara. Ijumu LGA comprises of several towns and villages such as Aduge, Arima, Otungba, Kakuma, Iluagba, Igo-Igere, Iyamoye, Egbeda Egga, and Ogidi[1]. The LGA covers an area of 1,304 km² with a 2006 population of 118,593, projected to rise to 159,800 by 2022, yielding a density of 122.6/km²[2]. Ijumu LGA has a number of prominent traditional rulers which include the Ologidi of Ogidi and the Olujumu of Ijumu. The area’s major inhabitants being members of the Okun ethnic sub-division. The Okun dialect of the Yoruba language is predominantly spoken in the area. The main occupation is farming among men, while women are engaged in trade[3].
