Ibaji Local Government Area (LGA) in the south of Kogi state separated from Edo State to the west by the Niger River, and bordering Anambra State in the south. With its headquarters in the town of Onyedega situated in Kogi East Senatorial District[1]. It comprises towns and villages such as Onyedega, Agojejeu, Gbokoluba, Ojukpo, Igbadim, Ayanka, Adoma and Ogbogbo. Covering 1,373 km², Dekina LGA had a 2006 census population of 127,572, projected to reach 171,900in 2022, with a density of 125.2/km² [2]. Ibaji LGA has large deposits of crude oil and has some oil wells domiciled in the area although the ownership of these oil wells has been an issue of contention between the states of Kogi, Enugu, and Anambra. Farming is a critical aspect of the economy of Ibaji LGA with the area known for the production of crops such as rice, yam, corn, potato, cassava, and vegetables[3]. It lies at 6°52′N 6°48′E, and uses the 271 postal code[4].
