Etinan Local Government Area, located at coordinates 4°51′0″N 7°50′0″E, is part of the Akwa Ibom North-East senatorial district. The LGA headquarters is in Etinan town. Established in 1976 from the former Uyo Division, Etinan is historically significant, hosting landmarks like the Akwa Ibom State College of Health Technology, Peacock Paints Industries, and a NIFOR zonal office. Etinan Institute, founded in 1915, is among Nigeria's oldest secondary schools. The 2006 population was 168,924, with a 2022 projection of 215,600 residents.
