Kankia, a Local Government Area situated in Katsina State, Nigeria, has its administrative center in the town of Kankia. The town is strategically located on the Kano-Katsina road, designated as the A9 highway, at the coordinates 12°32′57″N 7°49′31″E. The Local Government Area encompasses several towns and villages, including Kafin Dangi, Sukuntuni, Rimaye, Sabuwar Duniya, Tafashiya, Gaza, Kafin-soli, and Kankia itself.The population of Kankia Local Government Area was recorded as 151,395 in the 2006 census. However, projections for 2022 estimate the population to have grown to 270,600. The Local Government Area covers a land area of 723.6 square kilometers, resulting in a population density of approximately 374.0 people per square kilometer, based on the 2022 projected population.The primary economic activity in Kankia Local Government Area is farming. The region is suitable for the cultivation of crops such as rice, sorghum, and millet. In addition to agriculture, the Local Government Area has a thriving trade sector, supported by several markets, including the prominent Kankia central market.
