Faskari L.G.A Of KATSINA State

Faskari Local Government Area (LGA) was established in May 1989, following its separation from Funtua LGA. Situated in the southwest of Katsina State, its administrative center is located in the town of Faskari. The LGA shares boundaries with several other local government areas: Funtua LGA to the east, Chafe LGA (also known as Tsafe LGA) in Zamfara State to the west, Birnin Gwari LGA in Kaduna State to the north, and Sabuwa LGA to the south.The Faskari LGA is organized into two districts, Faskari and Mairuwa, and encompasses a multitude of villages within its jurisdiction.According to the 2006 census, the population of Faskari LGA was recorded at 194,400. However, projections for 2022 estimate a significant increase to 347,400 inhabitants. The LGA covers a substantial area of 1,537 square kilometers. Based on the 2022 population projection, the population density is estimated to be 226.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. The postal address for Faskari LGA is 830, and its geographic coordinates are 11°43′N 7°02′E.The agricultural sector plays a crucial role in the economy of Faskari LGA. The primary crops cultivated in the region include cotton, maize, millet, Guinea corn, groundnuts, and soybeans. These crops contribute significantly to both local consumption and regional trade.In addition to its agricultural potential, Faskari LGA is endowed with a diverse range of untapped mineral resources. These resources encompass both metallic and non-metallic varieties, offering significant opportunities for future economic development. Among the identified mineral resources are nickel, iron-oxide, chromites, magnetite, kaolin, asbestos, silica sand, laterite clay, graphite, diamonds, potash, and quartz.
