Lere Local Government Area (LGA), headquartered in Saminaka, is situated within the Kaduna North Senatorial District of Kaduna State, Nigeria. Encompassing a substantial land area of 2,231 square kilometers, the LGA had a population of approximately 339,740 residents according to the 2006 census. Current projections for 2022 estimate the population to be 501,900, resulting in a population density of roughly 190.5 people per square kilometer. Lere LGA shares borders with several other administrative regions. To the west and south, it borders Kauru LGA; to the northwest, Kubau LGA. Its northern boundary abuts Doguwa LGA in Kano State, while its eastern border meets Toro LGA in Bauchi State. To the southeast, Lere LGA shares a border with Bassa LGA in Plateau State/Lere's economy relies heavily on agriculture, with crops like maize, potatoes, and sorghum grown for both local use and export. Livestock farming further boosts the economy and local diets.
