Kauru Local Government Area (LGA), headquartered in Kauru Town, is a significant administrative division situated within the Kaduna North Senatorial District of Nigeria. Kauru LGA shares borders with several other LGAs: Zangon Kataf to the southwest, Kajuru, Igabi, and Soba to the northwest, Kubau to the north, and Lere to the northeast. Additionally, it shares boundaries with Kaura LGA to the south and Bassa and Riyom LGAs of Plateau State to the southeast.According to the 2006 census, Kauru LGA had an estimated population of approximately 221,276 inhabitants residing within a land area of 3,186 square kilometers. This resulted in a population density of roughly 69 people per square kilometer. Recent estimates from 2022 indicate a population increase to 326,900, and an increased population density of 102.6 people per square kilometer.The economy of Kauru LGA is heavily reliant on agriculture, key crops cultivated in the region include maize, millet, and yam.
