Yankwashi L.G.A Of JIGAWA State

Yankwashi  Local Government Area (LGA) is located in Jigawa North-West Senatorial District, with its headquarters situated in Karkarna. The LGA includes several towns and villages, such as Belas, Dandi, Ringim, Zungumba, Rauda, Daba, Badaza, Gezoj, and Achilafia . As of the 2006 Nigerian census, Yankwashi had a population of 95,643 and covers an area of 303.5 km² projected to reach 164,500 in 2022 with a population density of 542.0/km²  . Farming is a key economic activity in Yankwashi LGA, with crops like rice and tomatoes being grown in the area. The LGA is also known for the rearing of domestic animals such as camels, rams, and goats, which are sold within the local markets.
