Taura Local Government Area (LGA) is located in Jigawa North-West Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Taura. The LGA shares borders with Garki to the north, Gagarawa to the east, Jahun to the south, and Ringim to the west . The towns and villages within Taura LGA include Buluranawa, Chukutu, Yanyanga, Bardo, Ajura, Gujungu, Maje, and Kiri . Taura LGA spans an area of 699.9 km² and had a population of 131,861 according to the 2006 census, projected to reach 226,700 in 2022 with a population density of 323.9/km²  . The area is known for its fertile land, which supports both wet and dry season farming .
