Gwiwa L.G.A Of JIGAWA State

Created in 1992, Gwiwa Local Government Area (LGA) is located in Jigawa North-West Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Gwiwa. The LGA includes several towns and villages, such as Buntusu, Shafe, Guntai, Darina, Korau, Daabi, Yola, and Korayel . Spanning an area of 450 km², Gwiwa LGA had a population of 128,730 at the 2006 census, projected to reach 221,400 in 2022 with a population density of 502.3/km² . The area is arable and fertile, with land predominantly composed of the Katsina basic complex to the north, and traces of sand dunes found in the southern part . Gwiwa LGA is known for the cultivation of various crops, while also serving as a hub for animal rearing, including camels and horses. The LGA is home to several markets, such as the Furji market, where a wide range of commodities are bought and sold.
