Dutse L.G.A Of JIGAWA State

Dutse Local Government Area (LGA) is located in Jigawa South-West Senatorial District. It is made up of several towns and villages, including Gidan Dugus, Wangara, Fagoji, Baranda, Zobiya, Madobi, Kawaye, Jidawa, and Dagwaje . Spanning a landmass of 1,089 km², Dutse LGA had an estimated population of 251,135 in 2006, projected to rise to 431,800 in 2022, with a population density of 396.6/km² . The economy of Dutse LGA is driven by diverse activities. Fishing plays a significant role, alongside large-scale crop cultivation, with a variety of crops grown in the region. Animal husbandry, hunting, and trade are also important, with the Central Market Dutse serving as a hub for commerce. The presence of the Jifatu Group of Companies' food processing plant boosts the area's economic growth . Dutse is home to several prominent institutions, including: Federal University, Dutse, established in November 2011, Jigawa State Polytechnic, with its College of Business and Management Studies located in Dutse, and a Research Institute for Date Palm (Sub-Station) .
