Agwu L.G.A Of ENUGU State

Awgu  Local Government Area is located in Enugu State, with its headquarters in Awgu town. It is part of the Enugu West senatorial zone. The current Awgu Local Government Area was established after the division of the larger Awgu LGA, which previously encompassed the present-day Aninri and Oji River LGAs. The LGA spans approximately  420.8 km². According to the 2006 census, the population of Awgu was 197,292, with a projected figure of about 283,200 by 2022.Agriculture is a dominant economic activity in Awgu, with the cultivation of crops such as cassava, yam, and maize. Other notable industries include crafts and small-scale trading. Awgu is also known for its beautiful rolling hills and cultural heritage, marked by traditional festivals and ceremonies.
