Efon L.G.A Of EKITI State

Efon Local Government Area was created on December 4, 1996, and is part of the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Efon Alaaye[1]. It covers 238.3 square kilometres and had a population of 87,187 in the 2006 census, projected to reach 130,600 in 2022, giving it a population density of 548.1 people per square kilometre[2].


Efon is quite notable for some of its tourist centres which include River Oni, Babalola Memorial Park, Igbo Are, Abeta, etc[3]. More notable is the Efon Alaaye community which is known for its breathtaking hills.


The main economic activity in Efon is agriculture, with crops like kola nuts, cocoa, and maize being widely grown. Trade is also important to the local economy, with several markets, including the Oka Modern Market[4]. The area’s postal code is 362[5] and its geo coordinates are 7°22′0″N 3°38′0″E.
