Umuahia North Local Government Area is situated in the southeastern region of Abia State, Nigeria. It was created in August 1991 and has its headquarters in Umuahia town. It is amongst the local governments that make up Abia Central senatorial zone. As of the 2006 census, the area had a population of approximately 223,134 and spanned 256.8 square kilometers. By 2022, the population was projected to increase to around 324,900. Umuahia North LGA is home to numerous banks, hotels, businesses, and government-owned facilities, contributing to its status as a commercial and administrative hub.
