Brass Local Government Area is situated in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, with its headquarters in Twon-Brass on Brass Island. It lies along a 90-kilometer coastline on the Bight of Bonny and is part of the Bayelsa East Senatorial District. The LGA was established as part of the creation of Bayelsa State in 1996.
Brass had a population of 184,127 in 2006, projected to reach 274,100 by 2022. It spans 1,342 square kilometres, with a population density of approximately 204.3 people per square kilometre . The LGA's geographical coordinates are 4°18′54″N 6°14′30″E.
Historically, Brass was a major slave-trading port in the early 19th century and later became a significant hub for palm oil trade under the Oil Rivers Protectorate.
