Toro Local Government Area (LGA), with headquarters in Toro Town, is part of Bauchi South Senatorial District in Bauchi State, Nigeria. Created in 1976, it is one of the largest LGAs in Nigeria, covering 6,705 square kilometers. The population stood at 346,000 (2006 census) and is projected to have reached about 617,800 in 2022, giving a density of 72 people per square kilometer.


Agriculture dominates Toro’s economy, with crops such as rice, millet, and groundnuts, alongside cattle rearing and fishing. The area is also noted for its rich mineral deposits.
